Saying Goodbye to Book Reviews

The sunset of reviews is paving the way for a new dawn of... something, I guess?

If you’re a regular visitor to this little website, you’re probably visiting a little less regularly than you used to. It’s okay, I don’t blame you; there’s been a dearth of content for you to read.

No news, no updates, and very few reviews.

I’m still here (hi!), but I haven’t been spending my time writing. In previous years, I balanced writing two books, updates about their progress, various ramblings, some short stories… and a minimum of a book review each week.

In 2024 so far, I’ve managed to write the occasional review, and that’s it. And to say those have been sporadic would be kind. As this post’s headline spoiled for you, I’m moving away from book reviews. Maybe temporarily; but quite probably permanently.

Till Death Do Us Party and Luminary are still coming, but in order for me to keep that commitment, something has to go. And, unfortunately, that something is book reviews. I take genuine pleasure in writing these reviews, and it’s not a decision I’ve taken on lightly. But at the end of the day, writing these books should take precedent. And so it shall.

The above isn’t to say you won’t be seeing any more reviews—over the next little while, it will be quite the opposite. I have a few books I’ve read that I still need to write the reviews for, and after those, I still have books waiting to be read, and then reviewed. For how long, I can’t say. I’ll be aiming to clear the decks reasonably quickly, and if everything goes according to plan, you’ll be seeing reviews at a far greater frequency than you had before.

But once I’m through the reviews I’ve committed to, that will be it.

I hope you’ll stick around this little joint once I’m done, because with a little more space and a little less pressure, I should have some content for you. I don’t know what, exactly, it will look like—likely whatever seems like a good idea at the time—or when I’ll get to it all. I’ll take some time to recalibrate, and you’ll have a refreshed Was providing some hopefully fresh writing.

And, at the very least, I’ll be able to provide some updates about my writing.less the new year hasn’t yet ticked over in your time zone), and may 2024 completely rock your world. In the best way possible.

TTFN,
